Trademark services in Iran are suspended
Although the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury expressly authorizes the filing and prosecution of trademark applications in Iran, the receipt, renewal and maintenance of trademarks, opposition and infringement proceedings, and the payment of the related fees (section 560.509 of the Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations, 31 CFR 560.509), our credit card processor refuses to process credit card payments for us if we continue to offer these services.
We encourage anybody to file a complaint about this overt disregard of the sanctions rules against Stripe, Inc. (now Stripe, LLC), 354 Oyster Point Boulevard, South San Francisco, CA 94080, United States, with the Office of Foreign Assets Control, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Freedman's Bank Building, 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20220. For the time being, however, we have no choice other than to exclude these countries.
We understand that this may materially affect our customers' ability to ensure trademark protection in important markets, but we have no choice other than to suspend these services.

With a legally registered trademark, you gain several benefits:
- Potential copycats are deterred from infringing on your brand.
- The ability of other brands to claim that you are infringing on their trademark is severely diminished.
Our licensed trademark agency in Iran will handle your request, check all formalities, and then file with the Intellectual Property Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIPO). You receive confirmation of the filing and a copy of the filing request. We contact you immediately if an office action requires additional information, or if an opposition is filed against your application.
After the formal examination the trademark is published for opposition, so that third parties can object if they believe the mark infringes on their brands. The opposition period in Iran is 1 month after publication. You receive status updates as soon as your mark is published, and of any action the office takes if oppositions are received.
If no oppositions arise and your trademark is formally approved, you can expect registration within 8 months.
